Progress Report 1: Road to Graduation

WORK COMPLETED (AS OF JANUARY 24,2013):

Academics:  Successfully passed Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and first semester of Senior year with all passing grades.

Cheerleading: I have been working for years to be the cheerleader I am today. Last year I made a big accomplishment by making a national team that travels all over the U.S.

Employment: Over the summer of 2012 I got my first job at Sea World where I gained lots of experience and realized what it’s really like to have a job. Once summer was over I started looking for something closer to home. I applied at this little boutique in La Mesa called Act II and got the job. After working there for awhile I decided I wasn’t getting enough hours and I wanted to be making more money than I was. During the holidays I put in an application at the Tilly’s in Santee where I was offered a seasonal position, and then in January I was asked to stay on as a permanent employee.

WORK CURRENTLY UNDERWAY:

Academics: I am currently in the last semester of my senior year and I’m taking 5 classes: AP Government, Writing for the World, AP Statistics, Dance, and Yearbook. First semester I was able to achieve my goal of a 3.5, so this semester I’m setting the bar a little higher and going for a 4.0.

Cheerleading: I’m halfway through my cheer season and currently practice every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. Along with the scheduled practices I have I also go in for private lessons on Thursdays.

Employment: Currently I have two jobs , Act II and Tilly’s. I go to work about 30 hours every week.

WORK SCHEDULED:

Academics: After I graduate I plan on going to a community college to get my general education done. Once all of that is finished, I plan to transfer to a UC school where I will work on getting my teaching credential so I can become an elementary school teacher. While I’m teaching, I also plan to keep going to school to finish my bachelor’s degree and eventually work my way up to being an elementary school principal.

Cheerleading: Once this season is over I plan to move up to the worlds team “Nfinity” to compete and continue working my skills. I will also begin coach youth teams at my gym Cheerforce.

Employment: After this summer ends and I begin college I plan to leave my jobs at Tillys and Act II so I can focus on my school, cheer and coaching job.

PREDICTED PROBLEMS:
Academics: Going to college, classes will get harder and consume more of my time. If I don’t put in all my effort and focus I could fall behind and not pass my classes.

Cheerleading: Cheerleading is a dangerous sport. If I were to get hurt, my chance at joining the Worlds team next season would be completely ruined.

Employment: Next year I will begin a new chapter in my life. I will have more responsibilities and I will have to start paying for things myself. If I don’t end up making enough money as a coach, I could end up not being able to pay for my classes at school or pay for my cheer.

Thanks!
